At Ferris, we continue to focus on literacy as a foundation for student success. Teachers have worked collaboratively to analyze reading assessment data and identify ways to better support our developing and emerging readers. Through these conversations, we are deepening our understanding of students’ strengths and needs, allowing us to provide targeted instruction that helps all learners grow as confident readers and communicators. As we support literacy development, we also strive to honour students’ identities, experiences, and sense of self. Creating learning environments where students feel seen, valued, and connected helps foster engagement and a love of reading, while strengthening the relationships that are at the heart of learning.
