Update from Ferris and sharing helpful Social Emotional Information
We've just sent the following in an email--Chinese translation is attached. In addition, we've attached a newsletter about Social Emotional Learning from our School Consellors--during these times there may be some helpful information to support our families.

How is everyone? We know everyone’s situation is different—some are challenged by financial concerns, some are trying to work from home and help their children, some don’t have enough devices, etc. We understand and we want to ensure our parents aren’t pressured by school, but at the same time that we are providing opportunities. Everyone is doing their best. If you have reached out and haven’t received a response—please call the office and ask again. The email load is heavy and we want to make sure you can reach us if needed.
We are thinking of you and hoping you are all safe and well. If your circumstances are difficult and you are worried about putting food on the table—please reach out to Mrs. Steele. These times have created challenges for our families not of your own making, and sometimes we all need a helping hand.
Message to our families: With the help of Ms. Orban, our staff have created a video for our Ferris Families—we hope to get that on our website twitter feed on Monday. It’s a video that is too big to email.
Device Lending: Mr. Campbell received direction late this week and has been busy getting the ipads readied---we hope to start calling families Monday and distribute those ipads that are being lent out, by Tuesday. We are now only lending ipads as we don’t have charging cords for laptops to lend (because they are charged in a cart). We are seeing if we can provide keyboards for the ipads for our older students….more to come.
Communicating with your child’s teacher: We are still waiting for Peer to Peer volunteers to be ready, but in the meantime please reach out if communication is a difficulty for you because you don’t have English. Let your teacher know—through your child if necessary—we want to continue to problem solve to help with communication.
Zoom: We are very close---privacy settings, guidelines, etc. are on the way to teachers from our Tech Dept—likely by Monday. Soon we are hoping to be able to use zoom in some circumstances—each teacher will decide what/whether it makes sense.
